These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of the Star Comms Discord bot and related Star Comms services that connect Discord servers to Star Comms radio-net functionality. Star Comms is owned and operated by Star-Comms LLC.
Star Comms is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc. Your use of Discord remains subject to Discord's own Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Developer Terms of Service, and Developer Policy.
1. Acceptance
By inviting the Star Comms bot to a Discord server, using Star Comms slash commands, linking Discord to the Star Comms client, or participating in a Star Comms-enabled operation, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the bot, remove it from your Discord server, and stop using the Star Comms client.
2. What Star Comms Does
Star Comms provides Discord-linked radio-net coordination for gaming communities and organizations. The bot and backend may be used to configure Star Comms for a Discord server, create and manage radio nets through approved admin tools, assign Discord users to operation nets, gate admin controls by Discord roles, authenticate linked users with Discord, and route push-to-talk radio audio between users assigned to matching nets.
Star Comms is a coordination and entertainment tool. It is not designed for emergency communications, life safety, commercial dispatch, aviation, maritime, medical, law enforcement, military, or other mission-critical use.
3. Server Administrator Responsibilities
If you configure Star Comms for a Discord server, you are responsible for having permission to add and configure bots in that server, choosing appropriate admin and Squad Leader roles, making sure users understand that Star Comms uses Discord identity and server membership to control access, complying with Discord's rules and applicable law, and removing Star Comms or closing operation access if your server should no longer use it.
Star Comms may rely on the role and channel permissions you configure. Incorrect role configuration can allow the wrong users to control nets or assignments.
4. User Conduct
You may not use Star Comms to violate Discord's rules, harass or target users, intercept or publish voice communications without authorization, bypass access controls, disrupt Star Comms systems, upload malicious data, or engage in unlawful activity.
5. Discord Account and Access
Star Comms uses Discord OAuth to identify you and determine which Star Comms-enabled Discord servers you can access. If your Discord account is disabled, removed from a server, or loses required roles, your Star Comms access may stop working.
Star Comms may deny, suspend, or terminate access for any user or server that appears to violate these Terms, Discord's rules, or the security of the service.
6. Audio Routing
Star Comms routes push-to-talk audio only for users connected to a configured operation net. The service is intended to relay live audio packets to authorized recipients. Star Comms does not guarantee that all audio will be delivered, that latency will remain low, or that service will be uninterrupted.
7. Updates and Availability
Star Comms may change, suspend, remove, or add features at any time. Beta features may break, be removed, or require client updates. Star Comms may be unavailable due to maintenance, hosting issues, Discord API issues, networking problems, abuse mitigation, or other failures.
8. Privacy
Use of Star Comms is also governed by the Star Comms Privacy Policy, which explains what data Star Comms collects, how it is used, and how to request deletion.
9. Ownership, License, and Intellectual Property
Star Comms is proprietary to Star-Comms LLC. Star-Comms LLC owns or controls the Star Comms client, Discord bot, backend, UDP router, dedicated shard systems, relay systems, update systems, website, documentation, support identities, original assets, names, marks, logos, trade dress, tokenization mechanisms, protocol formats, route validation systems, entitlement systems, configuration formats, diagnostics, and infrastructure design.
Star Comms, StarComms, Star-Comms, and related names, marks, logos, product identities, service identities, domain identities, package identities, and registry identities are proprietary marks of Star-Comms LLC. These rights may include registered and unregistered trademark rights, service mark rights, trade dress rights, trade secret rights, copyright rights, patent rights, issued patent rights, pending patent rights, later-filed patent rights, contract rights, database rights, and other rights available under applicable law.
Star-Comms LLC grants you only a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use official Star Comms services and official Star Comms client builds for their intended Star Comms operation purpose, subject to these Terms. No other license is granted. Publication, access, download, installation, repository access, API access, bot access, or possession of Star Comms materials does not grant an open-source license, redistribution license, modification license, trademark license, patent license, sublicensing right, ownership interest, or right to operate a competing or confusingly similar service.
Except where Star-Comms LLC gives prior written permission, you may not copy, publish, redistribute, sell, sublicense, lease, host, mirror, modify, fork, rebrand, reskin, white-label, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, extract, emulate, bypass, or create derivative works from Star Comms source code, binaries, clients, servers, shards, token formats, protocol formats, packet formats, update channels, documentation, branding, or infrastructure.
You may not generate, forge, replay, tamper with, share, sell, or misuse Star Comms session tokens, desktop-link tokens, shard tokens, bridge tokens, route tokens, entitlement records, update metadata, or authorization data. You may not use Star Comms code, APIs, tokens, protocol behavior, infrastructure design, names, screenshots, documentation, or marks to build, operate, train, advertise, or support another product or service without written permission from Star-Comms LLC.
If you submit feedback, logs, bug reports, ideas, code, patches, documentation, assets, or feature suggestions, you grant Star-Comms LLC a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, commercialize, distribute, and incorporate that material into Star Comms without restriction or compensation unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
Discord names, logos, and trademarks belong to Discord Inc. Star Citizen names and related marks belong to their respective owners.
10. Infrastructure, Security, and Enforcement
Star Comms infrastructure, domains, TLS configuration, proxy rules, DNS layout, deployment scripts, environment variables, secrets, tokens, session material, shard credentials, entitlement data, and operational logs are confidential and proprietary unless Star-Comms LLC publishes them for public use.
You may not scan, attack, overload, bypass, tamper with, scrape, clone, intercept, or interfere with Star Comms systems, endpoints, update channels, Discord bot flows, relay paths, token systems, shard systems, or infrastructure.
Star-Comms LLC may suspend, revoke, block, rate-limit, rotate, disable, or terminate access to Star Comms systems, tokens, shards, downloads, APIs, Discord bot functions, or support channels for suspected misuse, infringement, security risk, abuse, or violation of these Terms.
11. Third-Party Services
Star Comms depends on Discord and may rely on hosting, domain, download, security, and infrastructure providers. Those third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies.
12. Disclaimer
Star Comms is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Star Comms does not warrant that the bot, client, backend, downloads, or audio relay will be secure, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or suitable for any particular purpose.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Star Comms and Star-Comms LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, goodwill, access, communications, or gameplay outcomes arising from use of or inability to use Star Comms.
14. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on the Star Comms website or repository. Continued use of Star Comms after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
